The WEA Select plans are group plans negotiated for local bargaining groups and administered through the school district business office.

WEA Select PPO Plans

The most popular medical plans for Washington school employees.  Over 48,000 school employees participate on the WEA Select PPO plans, which are under - written by Premera Blue Cross. 

Five plans with varying cost sharing, premiums and networks are offered allowing participants to choose the plans best suited for their needs.  A 10 percent premium discount is available for bargaining groups or schools districts that limit their plan offerings to any of the WEA medical plans and up to one HMO.  Decreasing term life and accident insurance is included. 

WEA Select HealthPlus Plan

WEA's managed care plan is Premera HelathPlus. Medical services are provided by a statewide network of hospitals and physicians offering excellent coverage with low out-of-pocket costs.  Decreasing term life and accident insurance is included.

WEA Select Dental Plans

Excellent coverage and no claim filing with Washington Dental Service dentists make the WEA dental and orthodontia plans a best buy for local associations.  More than 70,000 school employees are covered by WEA Select Dental Plans.  There ar seven "core" dental plans, including two new plans for groups to choose.  These options include both incentive level type and constant reimbursement plans with varying degrees of deductivles and reimbursement for crowns.  Remember September 1st marks the beginning of a new benefit year.   

WEA Select Managed Dental Care Plans

WEA offers three managed dental care plans underwritten by Washington Dental Service and Willamette Dental of Washington, Inc. These plans can be offered on a side-by-side basis to your core dental plan.  These plans give employees the option of a comprehensive dental plan with a lower premium cost.

WEA Select Vision Plans

Over 41,000 Washington school employees enjoy excellent coverage for exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses.  Two networks of participating providers are available-Premera Blue Cross and Vision Service Plan and five different plans are available for groups to choose.  Premera underwrites all plans.                                


WEA Select Group Long-Term Disability Insurance

WEA and American Fidelity Assurance Company team up to provide income during extended periods of disability.  This negotiated plan is available to eligible groups at low group rates.

WEA Select Voluntary Disability Insurance

If you are not covered by group long-term disability, you can protect yourself against loss of income when you are sick or injured by enrolling in the WEA Select Voluntary Long Term Disability Insurance Plan through American Fidelity Assurance Company.  If you are covered by group LTD, you can supplement your waiting period with voluntary short-term disability coverage.  Most school districts have annual enrollment periods in the fall.  Sign up today to protect your most important asset - your earning power.

WEA Select CorePlus

CorePlus is a plan that merges advantages of both Group Long Term Disability with a Voluntary Long Term Disability plan.  Employees that enroll in this plan have the option to "voluntarily buy-up" to higher benefits. 

WEA Select Life Insurance

Group term life insurance plans offer coverage at very competitive rates.  Voluntary term life for employees and dependents is available for those wanting supplementary coverage.  The plans are underwritten by UnumProvident Life and Accident Insurance Co.

WEA Select Long-Term Care (LTC) Insurance

Underwritten by Premera Blue Cross, the Select LTC Program provides coverage for custodial care when you and your eligible family members are unable to perform activities of daily living.  If your school district allows premiums to be paid via payroll deduction, you only need to complete a short health questionaire.  New plan designs are now available.

WEA Select Section 125 Plan

Section 125 plans represent significant tax savings for both the employee and the employer.  With a Section 125 plan, eligible premium, unreimbursed medical expenses and dependent care expenses can be deducted on a pre-tax basis.  American Fidelity Assurance Co. is the WEA-sponsored administrator for the Section 125 Cafeteria Plans.

WEA Select AD&D Insurance

An inexpensive yet valuable coverage is now available to you!  Accidental Dealth & Dismemberment protection is a smart source of protection in the case of an accidental dismemberment or dealth.  There are several good reasons for purchasing WEA's AD&D coverage.  The primary reason is to protect you and your family against the additional expenses associated with accidental dismemberment or dealth.  Accidents aren't planned but happen when you are least prepared for the financial burden.  This plan is underwritten by American Fidelity Assurance Co.
