govgregThe Governor held a press conference Thursday morning, October 26, to lay out her vision for the cuts that could be made during the special session at the end of November.

Some of the lowlights include:

  • A 50% cut to levy equalization, which would save the state $150 million dollars.
  • Increasing class size by two students each in grades 4 - 12 for a savings of $137 million.
  • Reducing the National Board bonuses by $1,000, saving the state $8.4 million.
  • Cuts to the funding formula for small high schools, saving $5.0 million.
  • A 15% reduction to the state support for colleges and universities, saving $166 million.
  • Cut the funding for health benefits from $768 to $745 per month, saving $20 million.

These "stars" in the documents indicate that she intends to put in her budget proposal next month.
